India’s higher education system is one of the largest in the world, producing annually over 38 million graduates. These graduates are staring at a bleak future as post Covid 19 impact, India’s economy contracted and unemployment rate rose sharply to 9.1 per cent in 2020, as per CMIE. Ironically, India faces a shortage of over 1.5 million cyber security professionals, according to an estimate by the Data Security Council of India, inspite of being home to IT’s biggest giants.

Over 40 % posts in forensic laboratories are vacant, the Centre informed the Supreme Court. As per the government submission, there are six Central Forensic Science Laboratories — in Bhopal, Chandigarh, Guwahati, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Pune. As many as 164 posts are lying vacant against the sanctioned strength of 450.
